Holy smokes: readers around here seem to have very low standards. This book is badly written and the two first-person protagonists have identical voices. Don't get me started on the male characters (paper thin and devious but the women swoon for their money or biceps). Just a trash read that started off very promising but petered out around the 75-80% mark. The final "decision" of the Hazel character makes absolutely no sense. A short Epilogue explains everything we already knew (the writer thinks we are very dim) and you won't care anyway. Got a couple of days to kill in a country inn or looking for something VERY light for a plane ride? You could do worse---but I felt like I had wasted my time when I was finished.

I have never "met" such a bunch of intert, whiney, unproductive "survivalists". One guy didn't catch a SINGLE fish or animal and managed to make it to 3rd place. Absolutely bizarre and boring too. But the producers need to take some responsibility in putting these people in such a barren, boring part of the world. Apparently bow hunting was illegal (wth?!). Not worth the 11 hours. The Canadian version is 100% better. Oh and a note to the guy who came in second: nothing to do with luck, mate: you just didn't make your traps well enough.
