Disappointing. To say the least. The only thing I liked about it was that an effort was made to make the movie at all. Well, I did also like the costumes, sets and locations. Didn't like the flashing backwards and forwards, made it seem disjointed and confusing. Laura Dern sounded like a good idea for Marmee, but she wasn't convincing to me. Same with Meryl Streep as Aunt March. And Beth didn't really seem fragile or extremely shy. As for Amy, while Florence was fine when Amy was older, it just didn't sit right when she played her young. Timothy Chalamet as Laurie was woefully miscast. Insipid. Saiorse as Jo and Emma as Meg were 'ok' in their roles. But ok is as much praises as I can give. The 1994 screenplay, cast and production absolutely blows this out of the water!
