“Please...pay no attention to critics or audiences negative reviews. Horizon is an extraordinary film in it's story, scope & beauty. Many reviews have mentioned too many characters, empty characterizations, meandering plotlines, etc.” Says ‘Jm Hale’, then proceeds to not address any of the problems above and talks about how Kevin Costner’s so great and how this movie is a real great amurican western.
I’m going to share my opinion in the hopes that you won’t have to go through the agony that I have just experienced. This was by far the worst movie I have ever seen. Honestly. No disrespect to Kevin Costner, I think he’s a good actor. Actor. Key word being actor. There were 3 or 4 different storylines taking place in different regions of the west, but none of them had any real plot.
Apart from Costner, Luke Wilson and maybe one or two others the acting was horrible. Unfortunately, the writing was even worse, and when the acting and writing are both awful, the combination is a confusing and almost comical showing. Add the corny music to the equation, and it almost feels like a Saturday night live skit making fun of western movies.
I’m not going into detail because I’m tired but someone else said “what the frick just happened” and made a better explanation.
