My great grandma lived through this!! This book is quite frankly one of the most profound works of the 20th century. This book single handedly opened people’s eyes to the horrors of leftism left unchecked in the 70s. Propagandist Marxist in the west used to say that this was something that could be placed at Stalins feet and not a consequence of communism but those who’ve lived through this know that it in fact began with Lenin and his crees and what ideology he followed to a T. The work of Solzhenitsyn ended that debate. Frankly I find it abhorrent that this one of the most little known pieces of history and absolutely reprehensible that people in the west have completely avoided acknowledging this piece of History and it just flat out isn’t taught in schools. That fact probably contributes to the current situation the United States finds itself in recent years. This book is about the human condition as much as it’s about one of the worst atrocities of the 20th century
