I've just watched the Travel Show which was about the Maldives. One feature was about regenerating the coral reef. How can it be environmentally friendly to attach 'twigs' of coral to a plastic rope using plastic cable ties, and then add a plastic label crediting the BBC with helping to regenerate the reef? And we were shown no evidence that the system actually worked.
I've long thought it strange that the BBC should broadcast a programme actively encouraging people to travel to far-flung destinations and hence contribute huge amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere as well as despoiling pristine environments. We should be encouraging people NOT to travel abroad. And how can such a programme be a 'sustainable production' as the Albert logo implies?
The whole programme is just a big 'jolly' for the presenters who presumably are being paid for the privilege of free exotic holidays, paid for by our license fee
