Chazelle keeps on trying to make a classic. I believe someday he will. A movie from beginning to end that has no holes or moments of utter confusion a movie that keeps you interested in the characters and what happens to them from beginning to end. Babylon is not that. It has moments. I found it comical and felt he was subliminally poking fun at many things. I appreciate that. The writing questioned socio economic, bigoted, and cultural vapidity in ways that reminds us of the profound stupidity which we sometimes treat one another.
