I found it amusing. The characters are fairly clearly drawn, and the story is also easy to follow (although initially I was confused as I couldn't quite make out whether it was a denunciation of modern life in general, or of the negative aspects of advertising).
The ups and downs of the protagonist's struggles are believable within the context of the authors' perspective on future life, seen from the 50's!
There is however a puzzling contrast between the wealth and power of the huge advertising corporations and the harshness of life for the average person, (salt water, no access to fresh food etc.)?
Finally, I completely agree with how overwhelming promotional pubblicity and advertising campaigns have become. They have indeed become powers to be reckoned with as they have permeated almost all aspects of modern life.
