Watched this for the first time in 16 years since it was made. While I am sure that things like this have happened to celebrities and non-celebrities alike, while reading the IMDb trivia, it says that Lisa suffers from a mental illness. I don’t know why Hollywood would craft an entire movie based on someone being mentally unwell, and then killing her at the end. This sends an unsavory message to the millions of people who would be watching. Such as, if you suffer from a mental illness, you will end up dead. I’m surprised this was allowed to be made in 2009, when I am sure mental health advocacy had already been existing. Did Hollywood think it was funny to have someone almost commit suicide, and then have her killed at the end? This movie has only obviously gained recognition and any sort of popularity, simply because Beyoncé is in it. Did Hollywood think this was funny? Yes, a mental illness where the person suffers from being horny all the time. Wow perfect storyline! Yea ha ha ha Hollywood. Very funny. It’s a mental illness that some people I’m sure suffer from, nonetheless and Hollywood wanted to make easy money from it. And then a catfight between white crazy girl and dominatrix Beyoncé, then white crazy girl gets killed because she’s so twisted? Great movie Hollywood.
Furthermore, the scene of Derek sending flowers to Lisa in the hospital was absolutely unrealistic. If Lisa is in the hospital for suicide watch, there is no way she is going to buy flowers to be sent up to her room (we were not made aware of any friends of family, except a “sister” who we never see) and a note written in her own hand, pretending that Derek had sent them. I knew someone who was in the hospital for suicide watch, and believe me, you are not allowed to have pens, if you’re not even allowed to take a shower as Lisa had stated. The person I knew was in a psychiatric unit, was allowed to shower, but only with cold water and limited amount of soap. Where did Hollywood get the idea people who are in psychiatric observation aren’t allowed to shower? An ignorant and insensitive notion by Hollywood. The unrealistic notion of the flowers being sent up to Lisa’s room is even more enraging that Hollywood has absolutely no sensitivity, and no knowledge of people suffering from a mental illness, and they just crafted a loose easily profited story simply because major Hollywood names are in it. Hollywood does not make good movies anymore and I’m surprised that in 2009 this was allowed to be created. It should’ve stayed in the erotic fantasies of the director and producer, who made this.
