I was never one for poetry. For years I went to my local book store and tried to read this type of genre but i always found that i spaced out halfway through and was never able to finish. After months of trying i almost decided to give up, but just before, i was recommended a book by a close friend. The book was 'When the water washed me away' and i'm glad that she did. Immediately upon opening i was engrossed in it. The way that it is written is so unlike all the others; it was complicated yet simple. Each poem would have different meanings for other people. For example, i follow this author on Instagram and i read one of his more recent pieces called 'Please let it go to voicemail'. I interpreted it as someone who had just gone through a break up and wanted to hear their voice again, however my friend read it and thought the author spoke of someone trying to hear the voice of someone who had died. And i just find it incredible that he has been able to do this so well.
Honestly i am so glad i have found his work and i'm looking forward to any future books he publishes.
