I loved Dan's early books. I would sit with Google Maps open on my computer while I read just so I could follow along as the story unfolded. I waited eagerly for each new book. The stories were always thrilling and kept me riveted. That said, I feel like Origin was nothing more than a blatant attack on organized religion thinly veiled as a novel. Dan's contempt for religion has never been difficult to discern, but past novels at least came with a decent story attached. This one did not, and was so painfully awkward to read that I will not be back for more. Goodbye, Dan. I will not miss you.
