Unfortunately there is no option for zero stars. As someone who has never written a review for a movie: this turd was so spectacularly bad that I felt compelled to post a review and warn others. The Director - Todd Philips - should be tarred and feathered. Terrible. Just terrible. (Yes it was actually that bad) I cannot believe that this abomination was not only funded but produced. Someone in oversight over at WB was asleep while this was being made… guaranteed someone looses their job over this. Underwhelming money grab at the cost of the great characters that have been developed and redeveloped for decades. No new development here. They could have developed the characters and given them an actual arc… spoiler… they didn’t. This is a 2-1/2 hour regurgitation of the events from first film (Joker) and the entire film could have been a 15 minute deleted scene. Instead they wrapped this phenomenal turd in about 2 hours of unnecessary song. Completely incoherent. This should not have been a musical. A little music would have been good but this has about 3x too much music / singing than it should have. Don’t get me wrong. Joaquin and Lady Gaga are amazing artists and did the best they could with the direction the director took…. Sadly their gifts as great actors were not enough to redeem this poorly executed disappointment. But this abomination should have been aborted while it was still in storyboard stage… I don’t often say this but I wish I hadn’t actually watched this, and I would never watch it again … even if it was the only film on a 12 hour flight. The only Joker here is the director - Todd Phillips; hopefully he gets committed so he can’t ruin any more films or characters.
