All over the board. Never really developed a clear plot line nor established what the overall point was. Is it better to live in reality where you’re blissfully happy or somehow to live in a false reality where self-sacrifice and some sense of duty prevail? I think the creators tried to be overly thought provoking and ended up coming across as ambiguous and nonsensical. In short a total C-rated low budget (seemingly) combination of the Matrix + X-men. But then again, isn’t that what all these new movie “creators” do (e.g. Netflix originals, Amazon originals, etc.), i.e. “cut and paste” from older movies to create something “original”? It’s computer programmer mentality (object based, reusability) being applied to moviemaking. Totally uninspiring.
