I like all of the MSNBC shows, especially Ari and Rachel. But I wish that all of them, and the staff who write the blurbs that go on the screen, would learn this little grammar bit: A blurb on the TV screen tonight said ".....despite Mueller recommending leniency." It should say ".....Mueller's recommending leniency." We need the possessive because "recommending" is a noun (a gerund, which is a noun), and nouns are modified by adjectives or possessives, not other nouns. You wouldn't say "Muller book." You would say "Mueller's book." Same reasoning. All the MSNBC hosts get this wrong, maybe this note will catch someone's attention.
