I had to watch this film because I felt left out every time I’d hear some short form TikTok/YouTube/Instagram video feature the Le Monde song by Richard Carter. Now that I’ve seen it, I’d say this is the most Australian horror film that I’ve ever seen right next to the Babadook. (Which is the most Australian word I’ve ever heard/pronounced) This movie was spicy 🌶️ 🥵 and fortunately for me I like spicy food. My brain is tingling as if it’s been burned by a metaphorical ghost pepper. Watching this movie, for me, felt like taking a bite from a Ghost pepper. Maybe for someone else it was just a dab of tabasco sauce but the Story-telling had me at the edge of my proverbial seat because I was actually sitting on a futon while I watched, but I didn’t dare look away from the screen (except for when it became stupidly violent by the second act, you know that one scene.) Sophie Wilde’s performance was impeccable. Take this movie as a ⚠️ caution to beware when partying with the Australians, they’re hardcore.

Watching this show was like a game of endurance, after two episodes I wondered how much more I could handle as a bunch of buff Koreans bickered about each other’s perfect physiques…this show is a massive eye roll for me gang. ❤️

As far as films 🎥 go, like as far as Cinema is concerned this movie 🍿 is not a masterpiece…but as far as commentary on the racial tension between black and white Americans 🇺🇸 go this movie makes a great podcast. 🤷‍♀️

In the first episode there is a scene where Catherine Reitman’s character must go to work for the first time since her character has given birth, and the scene shows her struggle leaving her baby alone with the Filipino Nanny…I just…it made me feel indignant? I felt it interesting that her character was struggling to leave her child just to go back to work, it was like her character was feeling jealous of the Filipino Nanny…this show isn’t about the Filipino Nanny but if the Filipino Nanny were the main character of the show…we would see her struggle to leave her own children alone all the way from the Philippines. Women from the Philippines sacrifice seeing their own children just to become a nanny to some rich Americans. At least Catherine Reitman’s character gets to come home everyday…her problems are valid as a rich white woman from America but they’re not that valid compared to the great sacrifice her Filipino nanny made just take care of her child…I dunno 🤷‍♀️ It’s a good show for a certain kind of demographic.
