I had to watch this film because I felt left out every time I’d hear some short form TikTok/YouTube/Instagram video feature the Le Monde song by Richard Carter.
Now that I’ve seen it, I’d say this is the most Australian horror film that I’ve ever seen right next to the Babadook. (Which is the most Australian word I’ve ever heard/pronounced)
This movie was spicy 🌶️ 🥵 and fortunately for me I like spicy food. My brain is tingling as if it’s been burned by a metaphorical ghost pepper. Watching this movie, for me, felt like taking a bite from a Ghost pepper. Maybe for someone else it was just a dab of tabasco sauce but the Story-telling had me at the edge of my proverbial seat because I was actually sitting on a futon while I watched, but I didn’t dare look away from the screen (except for when it became stupidly violent by the second act, you know that one scene.)
Sophie Wilde’s performance was impeccable.
Take this movie as a ⚠️ caution to beware when partying with the Australians, they’re hardcore.
