It could be have been so good if Nintendo just pushed back the release date and gave Game Freak more time developing the game. In all honesty, the game to me feels unfinished. The open world concept is super cool. The new pokemon designs are in my opinion interesting enough. Though I admit some of the evolutions are a bit lazy or just weird. Definitely better than the last generation though imo. There are also a lot of bugs, which is FINE as all games have some kind of bugs, and most of them are hilarious. BUT, at a certain point they do take you out of the gameplay. The bugs paired with the lag and low fps rates really need to be fixed. Also the story itself is alright, but I play pokemon to catch pokemon and have fun! I don't care about the story tbh and there's so much dialogue! I just wanna run around and have a good time, but it takes a whole 1 hr to 2 hrs before you can finally run free! I understand others do enjoy the story more than I do, so I am not going to fault Nintendo for that. I understand why people are angry and annoyed. This is a million dollar (maybe even billion) company after all. Why not take the time to fix all the issues before release. The world also is not as aesthetically pleasing as Breath of the Wild or Xenoblade. If you don't care about bugs or aesthetics then you'll have a great time playing this game. But I also implore you to not give Nintendo a free pass just because they released a Pokemon game and your a Pokemon fan. We know they can do better. We have seen it. It is nice that they're making an open world game, but if they're trying to do that, spend some time on the open world?! Anyways that's my honest review. Id rate it 2/5. If there are more updates soon fixing the bugs, this review could change, but let's hope they spend way more time on the next Pokemon game and designs and take their time.
