Excellent, thrilling, a web of exciting characters and plotted deep and multilayered. The performances were second to none. The way the fantastic Ian Richardson talks directly to the viewers, breaking down that fourth wall is just excellent and made me thrilled and at times creeped out by the characters Machiavellian scheming! The US version is pale and forgettable. THIS is the one to watch!

I enjoyed this film/documentary very much. It was well researched, academic but also good at bring age old historical facts to life. I am a direct descendant of the Iceni tribe and was very proud of this film's depiction of my ancestors, although they were defeated. It gave a good sense of what it was like to be at the siege, warriors and victims. The despair of the Roman generals and soldiers was shown, as was the deep insult given to the Iceni tribe. The reasons for the revolt, war and the defeat were told in good informative fashion. The production as a whole was exciting to watch. I recommend this film.

Absolutely compelling viewing, great chemistry between the lead actors Leonardo and Caterina. It really brought the Renaissance to life and put so much of what is in the textbooks into real life with these wonderful depictions. Highly recommended.
