Finally managed to watch the movie, #Shikara . I have never been comfortable watching movies based on so called true incidents that took place in #Kashmir. They leave me feeling sad, frustrated and angry.
However, this movie is so beautifully directed and the story so sensitively told. It left me with complete different emotions. I felt blessed. Blessed to have not lost someone dear to bombing or firing. I have been blessed that I had friends back in school who didn’t made me feel out of place. They didn’t question my belonging to the place and let me be just one among them. We were not Muslims , Hindus , Sikhs or Christians but just #Conventee. I have been blessed enough that even today when I go back to Kashmir , it’s the same home my dad and mom built and maintained with love.
Thank you my dear neighbours , teachers, mentors, classmates and of course my friends for letting me be a part of your life and respecting me for who I am.
Gratitude 🙏
