First of all I’m giving 5 stars because of how unfairly biased 90% of the reviews are, and there are many things I sincerely enjoyed about this film. I love how they portrayed the personalities of each character. Despite the amount of analysis made about the original, and how much “personality” was spotted in the original stage show, I still feel that the actors of the 2019 film were able to give the characters personality where the original’s actors failed to do so. There are also many complaints about the designs / cgi of the 2019 film, but when you only use the character’s appearance as your main criticism, it becomes clear that you cannot see past the surface and are judging solely by the exterior. And finally, I’m unhappy with the biased views of the hardcore theatre kids, who are driven solely by their high flying nostalgia flag.
