I like ARPGs. I've played many in the past. I like this game and play regularly and some of the classes are fun to play. Solid B Tier game. I'm only 50-60 on all my alts, so I haven't encountered the end game slog that many report to be actual Hell. However, there are glaring issues that prevent me from having S Tier fun. I started with Chain Lightning Sorc and I hated the game. It felt underpowered and I was convinced the game wasn't for casuals like me. But then I decided to play WW Barb (before the nerfs) and it was like night and day. I'm also playing a Tornado Druid for S1 and it's pretty fun, as well. Something about sorcerer (besides the nerfs) just felt awful. YMMV. I recommend trying different classes to see which fits your playstyle before giving the game up entirely.
The worst thing about this game is the stuttering. Yes, I've turned off crossplay, and no, I don't have potato internet or computer. It's absolutely unplayable sometimes. It gets HC players killed. It gets me killed in Helltide. It's unforgiveable when you insist that a game be 'always online.'
Let me zoom out more for ranged characters. What's the point of a ranged character if I can't snipe far away enemies? Why have a glass cannon character that can only shotgun-blast point-blank? No, I don't care if this hurts console gamers' performance; I have a good PC for a reason.
I know this gripe comes with the territory of a grindy-game. I've been grinding away finding a key legendary aspect for my druid for all 55 levels I've been playing him. I've literally never seen it outside of a mention for my build on Maxroll. I don't believe that it actually exists. I exclusively pick Tree of Whispers rewards that can only fit the item slots that the legendary aspect exists on. Then I see that I need a key unique for my build, and I have very little faith that I will ever see that, either.
I need more stash. What if I never find these uniques/legendaries? I'm saving every unique I get and every high roll legendary I get just in case I totally give up finding them and need a different build. I'm bursting at the seams in stash. No, I don't care about their developers' issues about it; you had it in prior games, so implement it again. Ridiculous in an ARPG to only have four stash tabs.
The patch changes didn't feel good, but I'm not a game designer so maybe they have some sort of endgame planned for that. But why piecemeal it in? You broke builds that people were using -- now they can't use them and have to change specs, costing millions of gold (which is insane to me -- why limit builds like that? Don't you want to foster an environment where people AREN'T attached to their builds, thus creating experimentation? Ridiculous.).
Those are my biggest gripes, but I have more nitpicking ones (Music. S1 is lackluster. Events are repetitive and boring; "Why... did you leave me alone?" Elemental resistances. LFG Feature that Immortal has. Various QoL facets). It seems that despite the fun I'm having, I'm constantly thinking to myself, "Why the hell would someone put this in a game? What reason is there for this to exist in this state? This is ridiculous." I'm convinced that Beta was just an Alpha, and that shareholders 'strongly encouraged' them to release early.
