Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus is a terror, science-fiction novel written by Mary Shelley. It was first published in 1818 and the first edition was anonymous because that was the only way Shelley could publish her book, definitely it was a difficult time for female writers... Fornutaley, the second edition was published with the name of the author and that’s how we know who wrote it.
This book is about Victor Frankenstein, a scientist and doctor who has a revolutionary idea: to create a new human from corpse parts and giving him life thanks to science.
We all have an idea of what this story is about: a green, grotesque, lumbering, giant monster, but this novel has so much more than that. It is a story about the meaning of life, death, love, friendship and revenge. It shows us different sides of the story: from the creator who feds-up his creation, and the perspective of the creation (who never has a name in the book), who is desperate to be loved and understood.
In this way, we get to know both main characters, their personalities and ambitions. I think the reader will be satisfied with this book. Personally, I really enjoyed reading it, it was a great experience not only for reading a novel, but also to reflect on how we all need someone we can trust in.
Besides, the style of the author makes a beautiful narration of the actions, feelings and thoughts of the characters. This is a novel you shouldn’t miss, I definitely recommend it.
