This is an ART FILM, not a date movie. A rather ethereal telling of Van Gogh's most productive period, his battles with poverty, mental illness, his unique vision of his art. Slow moving, long periods without any dialogue, definitely not for the short attention span audience. His friendship with Gauguin is explored, and his relationship with his brother , and patron, Theo, I found very touching. Very well acted by all, particularly by Willem Dafoe and Oscar Isaac. Not for everyone. Great score.
