I have always known Whitney Houston as the singer whose songs "How Will I Know" and ""I Wanna Dance with Somebody" leads people to the dance floor at weddings, parties, etc. Her song, "I Will Always Love You" is a classic for modern day music, and of true love!
I am 21 years old, and I can remember her death in 2012, but it was a minor detail in my life, like Michael Jackson's death in 2009. After seeing this AMAZING film, it was a huge deal to me, since we were both raised in strict Christian homophobic atmospheres, and we both loved singing. As a gay man, I can totally relate to how Whitney Houston has suffered with her sexual identity as a Bi-lesbian, and having to hide it, for her success in life. I have come to even love Whitney Houston, even more than Michael Jackson, my idol. Now, Whitney and Michael reign as the king and queen of my playlists, and my heart.
After seeing this movie, I can clearly see Whitney Houston as one of America's greatest singers of all time, and she was such a treasure that we have lost, due to fame, drugs, etc. I can safely say too, with gusto, that I totally wished that she is still alive, to help my generation (Gen-Z) realize the dangers of drugs and fame, and to take caution in these zones. She has that rare voice that no one else will ever be able to overdo, and she will always have a special place in my heart, as the true Queen of Pop.
I absolutely love how the film doesn't portray so much scandal in her life, and focuses on her blessings, and successes. I was singing along with all her songs, (loud and clear to the humiliating embarrassment of my friend) 😂 and I was So Emotional with the beautiful ending. It reminds me so much of the movie, "Selena" based on Selena Quintanilla Pérez, another hero we lost, due to fame.
I definitely recommend this movie for everyone to see, especially those who wish to understand the evils of fame/success, and to see how amazing Whitney Houston is to our society. And don't forget the tissues, trust me, you will need them! RIP Whitney Houston! We love you!💗
