Yes, all these items can be attained in game, but certainly not early in the adventure and items like port crystals are very rare. You could just keep exploring the world, or get immediate gratification within arms reach for a few extra bucks. To me, having that carrot dangled in your face the entire playthrough spoils a bit of the fun of the game. it also worries me that the game is balanced with that scarcity in mind to encourage additional purchases.
