Having read this novel before I became an insurance professional, I later became an avid follower of all things associated with the sea, marine insurance and laws governing international shipping. I'm now not able to work but continue to be fascinated by the sea. Let me see if I can lay my hands on this novel; it'll be great fun reading it again.
