Dear Zindagi - a film that Iโve always brushed past, putting it off for another time constantly and when I finally watched it today, I couldnโt believe I hadnโt given it a chance before.
The film was amazing. All the reviews say it, and everybody else talk about every inch of it to the very last detail so Iโm not going to be descriptive and point out every single thing I liked.
First point: I simply just LOVED the fact that the director doesnโt just brush past Kairaโs (Aliaโs character) storyline and past plus present because thereโs another massive lead in the film - Sharukh Khan. In fact, Sharukhโs character - Dr Jehangir Khan does extreme justice to his role by sticking to his space, using it thoroughly and giving the rest to Aliaโs character - Kaira - to figure out how to complete her puzzle as heโs just there to โfind her the missing piecesโ as mentioned in the movie.
Second: The pace of the movie, which some people may find irritating towards the beginning and find it going a bit slow, but trust me, itโs perfect, precise, and the slow burn is absolutely worth it and rewarding for our heart and souls. It has you questioning the movie at first, and then slowly drags you to question Kairaโs morals and way of judgement, unknowingly pulling you into the scriptโs magic. And then, before you know it, youโre listening to every word, every life lesson put into beautiful sentences, and youโre singing the chorus โDear Zindagiโ.
Everything is honestly beautiful. I do not want to leave spoilers, but every realisation, and the pain between every flashback and also everyone seeing the solution to that pain and standing up for themselves, is empowering to watch. Sometimes, you just have to scream it, cry it, and express however you can when the people just wonโt listen.
Itโs your life. Live it how you want, and sometimes itโs okay to take the easy way out. It doesnโt make you any less of a person. There is never anything to be ashamed of, and embracing your fears really is a thing, trust the flow.
Love you Zindagi, and I just want to say hello.
