That coach is quite literally sexually predatory, I don’t know how they expected to write it, but him being older, and her literally acting roofied in one scene as I mistakenly saw it at first, due to how an older man was drinking with young girls and then acting romantically towards them, it gives me the creeps a bit. Plus the fact the friendship formed is threatened by these girls romantic relationship’s with their coach, really undermines strong messages within the film. It misses the whole ‘girl power’ thing by playing into offensive tropes. Also I am sure I’m not the only one to read hints that the girls were not exactly straight, i have a feeling this was deliberate since the hints were so obvious, and the fact they include a gay man obviously seems like a compromise.
