Unfortunately movie watchers seem to expect and desire over the top productions , action and have preconditioned expectations about performances by the actors. Midnight Sky requires one to be attentive in the watching , listening and thinking while experiencing the movie. Subtle delivery visually and portrayal requires one to pay attention. Sometimes the story line hits too close to home that watchers miss the point. The choice to hold onto the reins by the director forces the watcher to do some work to be engaged. Clooney as director could have let go and spend time on more character development and create more pizzazz on action sequences but then it would be the same ole same ole. They could have included more that was in the original book but then it would be a longer film besides it is a completely different medium.
So if you are a couch potato desiring to be entertained and have the story tell you what to think this film is not for you.
