The Haunting of Bly Manor is not a traditional horror tv show, but rather a gothic horror story that uses a framing narrative. As an avid lover of traditional horror media, I was a bit taken aback by the style of genre at first. But, as I continued watching, I fell in love with the characters and the story. Bly Manor is not going to make you scream and flinch every five minutes due to jump scares, but it will hit at something I believe is even scarier. The show targets the dead-rooted fear of being forgotten and of death taking away those we love, leaving us alone. This many not be everyone's cup of tea, but it has been a very long time since a tv show has made me feel such raw and powerful emotions.
