Studying Monster

Genuinely not as bad of a movie as people are making it out to be. I'd be the first to say that the cgi faces were a weird choice, but you get used to them very quickly. People are going in too seriously. If you like musicals and go in expecting a weird time, you'll enjoy it a lot more than going in as a pure critic. Watch it for the fun of things. Its dumb, it's weirdly enchanting, the backgrounds and lighting are nice, and altogether it comes off as a strange musical/movie hybrid than anything else. Genuinely, it didm't scar me or give me nightmares. It was just weird and fun.

This movie had potential with its non-linear storyline but ended up throwing it all away for cheap scares. Not kidding, they put at least 3 jumpscares in a row in under a minute. I was genuinely impressed. This movie plays like the illegitimate son of the grudge and amityville horror, where they both say the house is evil and that people can just catch the grudge like chickpox. Moreover, this movie treats its audience like we're all morons by literally telling you every. Single. Little. Detail. It's not a good story, no is it very scary. It made me flinch once or twice, but most of the time I was either laughing or sitting there bored. Not a good horror movie. Watch the original.
