Beautiful movie, stunning visuals, horrible storytelling. The plot introduced to us at the beginning gets left behind in the dust the moment arlo meets the human. It goes from a story about family, self-worth, and overcoming fear... to a dinosaur and a human eating fermented fruit. It’s hard to get bored watching a Pixar movie, but it was hard to keep my eyes open after the first half.

As a kid, I’d fall in love with it. As an adult with notions of what makes a movie good or bad, it’s extremely boring. If you put this movie in front of your kid, be ready to skip a few scenes; first, there is a depiction of a harpy with huge human breasts, and then there is a scene in which a tree gets transformed by a wizard to have gigantic breasts as well. I have no clue why either would be in a movie marketed towards children, but it’s there and you should know.
