I found it too difficult to watch. I didn’t feel that there was anything to be gained from watching it....gut wrenching random violence and the desperate people trying to live. I also found the depictions of the violence to be somewhat cold. I get that the filmmaker was trying to depict the callousness of the murderers, but something was lost in that depiction....almost bordered on violence porn for me. Also, as many have pointed out on this thread, there was absolutely no attempt by the filmmakers to portray Muslims as anything but murderous maniacs. In order for this film to work, there needed to be more nuance. I am heartbroken reading the comment from the 14 year old on this thread, who had become accustomed to disgusting Islamaphobia in America. Frankly, in light of the racist, xenophobic monster currently in the WH and the rise of murderous “white nationalist” around the world,it seems like the filmmakers should have been even more careful about the way this awful incident was depicted.
