Brief Book Review: "Daddy Was An Exorcist"
This memoir of Blessing Macho, the sixth of ten children, contains the chronological experiences of childhood into adult years. Her father Patrick Macho experienced a Christian awakening, abruptly abandoned his conventional work and pursued a calling to live by faith. This ministry included teaching, prayers for healing, and stringent upbringing for the children. It also involved, in my opinion, sincere but misguided efforts at exorcism.
If this book does nothing else, it can spell health and hope to those who have been victims of a misguided ministry or who have suffered from harmful occult manifestations. Moreover, this book demonstrates that love and forgiveness can triumph over adversity.
Exorcism or deliverance ministries do have their proper place and effective application in Christian contexts. For explanations and various kinds of help including exorcism, I recommend the well balanced book titled "Healing" by Father Francis MacNutt. Jesus is still the answer.
