The movie has failed on all fronts. It is dark and not at all true to the original spirit of Ramayan. Had it not been based on Ramayan, even then it is not worth your effort. After a point it becomes unbearable.
I wonder what exactly were the thoughts behind ruining the epic.

The story seems like an attempt to create something exceptional but falls prey to the usage of all the available cliches. The creators of the show used everything religion/ caste based discrimination to property disputes to rape to LGBT to fake news and a lot more. It was almost like a desperate attempt to touch a chord with viewers. Had the series used lesser issues and wrapped it up in 4 episodes, it would have been a nicer watch.
