My impression was that the writing was brilliant. So many great scenes with totally interesting dialog. The flashback to the time the girl has sex with the guy's car and the discussion about it led to the question "did it turn you on" and the answer was "no, too gynecological." And at the end when the Mexican drug boss calmly explains to the counselor his position and the work we have chosen is a great scene. I love this movie for all of it's craziness and the lineup of great actors from Brad Pitt to Michael Fassbender. Great movie.
