Justin Sands

This film had so much potential but the editing and direction chose a slow burn rather than going straight into the tension. For instance, the killer (no spoilers, it's in the trailer) has three kills before they meet the protagonist; for a movie that runs at 90-ish minutes that's 10 minutes that could've been used for the second or third act. There's no propulsion in the film. It all comes off as a character study when it also wants to be a thriller. I think Kendrick has good dorectorial skills, it's just this should be a genre flick with tension but rather it tries to do too much.

Short and quick review: it was funny, has a great premise, and is good for a Sunday or lazy day watch.

Others on here have said it better, but I would reiterate what is said at the beginning of the film: it is better to feel it rather than to try to understand it. It is comprehensible, but that would be like dissecting a joke.

Rae and Nanjiani's chemistry is excellent, the supporting cast bring something to the table, and the jokes are funny. The plot fades around the second act but you dont watch this type of movie for gripping plot, you watch it for the jokes (and the jokes are splendid!)
