Erin is a friend of mine and I met her at one of her peaks of fitness, after all these surgeries. I had seen her before at school. She was the young woman, limping around with a cane, for months. As an Orthopedic PA, I wondered at her journey. When we officially met, I had no idea what she had been through. You would never know as she had come back with a vengeance. I think her story is incredibly important. It highlights her struggles as well as all the questions that occur in medicine. Very few people realize that doctors don't always have the answers. Erin's book is also a testament in advocacy. As a patient, you are your best advocate, but so many people don't know how to do that for themselves. Despite the content matter, this was a gripping read that I completed in about two days. Erin's sense of humor and her strength shine through on every page. She is a fighter and this book can help so many struggling with a similar fight. It is a must-read for athletes both injured and uninjured.
