This film isn’t the worst thing I’ve ever seen, but it will never stand out to me. I liked where it was going sometime within the first 15 or 20 minutes at least until we see the astronauts. At that point the film becomes really boring and nobody’s actions make sense. There are many story arch’s and pieces to the plot that are put out there and never spoken of again. The ending sucked and seemed anti-climatic. I can’t think of any redeemable quality other than their use of CGI that can make this movie less infuriating.

I don’t know if I actually love this movie or would I say it’s my favorite, but it’s well done. I want to say what I think could’ve been done differently but I think it deserves some praise SOME SPOILERS 1. This shouldn’t be a horror movie. I think that the overall theme was a little mixed. Sometimes it’s a cosmic horror but then it’s a sci-fi monster flick. I’ve often watched stuff that reveals the monster but it ends up being garbage because the real monster isn’t even scary and it kind of ruins it for me. I think that maybe JJ was kept to be more scary and along the lines of traditional aliens it would be a lot easier to take in but I give my respect for Peele for being ambitious and making something decent. I think the twist was actually done pretty well and it’s interesting to see some kind of Jaws type scene in a desert but it might have gotten better reception if it had been consistent with the theme. Also much of the film was misleading, but at least sometimes when they were misleading it worked. 2. The soundtrack was AMAZING. It doesn’t matter if you disliked it or not the music was thrilling. The only problem was when they used a lot of pep up exciting music in a scene that needed more suspenseful music. 3. Some of the characters were perfect but some needed to be fleshed out more. That director guy was a little to edgy and his vibe just didn’t fit in with the rest of the theme. I also didn’t get the point of including the TMZ biker guy as he only was in there to be random death that meant nothing to the movie. Also if they were gonna include the Kat from Euphoria actress then they should’ve at least used her a little more. I don’t watch Euphoria but knowing that a lot of people would want to see more of her she should at least get a little more screen time. Also Jupe’s kids sucked I hated the fake out aliens scene in the barn. I also just want to say that if we completely ignore the message this movie is trying to make I still can find good things from it. Reincorporation is seen throughout the movie and it isn’t something that’s cliche it’s something that takes time to understand and when it actually comes towards the end of the film and it makes sense, I think that’s the scare Peele is looking for. SPOILER you know how all that stuff fell out of the sky and killed OJ’s dad in the beginning and to me that adds on to the whole mysterious alien thing going on where there is stuff you can’t explain. What makes that scary is at first it’s just something crazy that you can’t explain but then when it shows that it’s actually stuff that JJ sucks up and tries to eat it’s scary. This is because of all the weird noises the UFO (what you think it is) kept making (screams, horse sounds etc) and then to realize that JJ has been feeding the whole 6 months it was there was really terrifying. Has Jupe been feeding it horses? Has it been eating people? Super random though, kinda wish he explained the cloud thing. Is that it’s home or like what is that? Hope to get more answers in the future but I swear to god he better not make the sequel a Jurassic Park for cloud monsters or I’m walking out
