The three of us is a soft, tender, reflective kind of film that envelopes you in warmth, much like a hug from a loved one ! It's about an ordinary, woman, who, faced with early onset of dementia, decides to revisit the place of her childhood, where some crucial & significant life events had happened to her.
During that journey, she not only finally accepts all that happened 28 years ago, but also liberates herself from perceived or real guilt/ disappointments. So, it's a story of acceptance as well as letting go and finding closure.
While there are many reasons why one should watch this film, I list 3 important ones here :
1. Fantastic, natural, subtle & understated acting by the 3 main characters. Shefali let's her eyes do most of the acting & it's an absolute pleasure to watch her!!
2. The beautiful Konkan coastal area and it's people, culture & traditions so wonderfully captured.
3. A story told so honestly, without the usual cinematic gimmicks & exaggeration that one can connect to it with both the heart & brain.
All in all, this slice of life film is certainly worth a watch. Do see it please.
