I absolutely adore this show. I completely don’t understand any of the 3/5 star reviews because this was an amazing time, maybe because this isnt a topic that resonates with that many people, especially older more traditional audiences. When I saw it, I basically got reborn, it renewed my enjoyment of just watching shows and having a fun time WHILE the show still said something meaningful and was done masterfully but also not too seriously. All of the components of the show are just exactly up my alley, really spoke to my absurdist ironic acting performing side, my love for activism through art, my personal experiences of queerness and gender and even the mixing of unlikely themes/styles yet make TOTAL sense once they do come together (I speak very highly of this because the only other work comparable to this specific thing is Hadestown, the combination of greek mythology and their industrial revolution vibe).
When I walked out that theatre that faithful fated day, I was a changed woman. I was having a visceral physical queer reaction to it, and now I am DISGUSTINGLY VIOLENTLY OBSESSED with this show, even bought the script which was only £5 are you kidding me??? Im gonna analyse study this book down to the bone (spine of book haha)
As Ive said before: dont walk to see this show, you better GIDDY ON UP THERE. I guarantee you will not regret it, even if you dont relate much to the premise, had me screaming, shrieking, laughing, crying literally just amazing. I will be rewatching very soon!!!
I dont know if the ppl who made this show will see my silly little comment here, but just know, thank you for changing this girl’s life. (And if you ever put it on again, can I please be in the cast/help, this show looks so insanely fun, the character acting is driving me crazy and it’s obvious that you all care deeply about each other behind the scenes) <3
