Problems? Yes. Ep5: Red Haze- is crazy, but pulls the series out of the dumps it was in by episode 3-4. [[ NOTE: Disregard most of the 1 star reviews. Alot of "issues " people making bizarre racist, anti-liberal, protect Christianity, anti-Taylor Swift, anti-Ryan Murphy/AHS rants. If people didn't watch past Ep. 2-4, why are they leaving reviews?]] FULL REVIEW: Story has potential. It seems to lean in too heavily on the GROSS factor (hint in show name). This wouldn't be an issue if the writing changed the pace of the story or characters a bit more. All the heavy handed devices (gross killings, addicted lead characters, odd nurses and nuns) work for the first 2 episodes because the viewer doesn't know what to expect. But, by episode 3, you're beginning to wonder if Niecy Nash can speak louder or at a faster pace and if anyone can act....well "normal " for a second. The acting here isn't bad. It's good for most of the characters, but when the main characters never seem to change their mood or tone (or super weird ways) you wonder if this is a bad choice by the writer/director or the actor's weaknesses. The visuals are grimly beautiful. The actors clothing is purposely stylized- which can be silly at times (like the lead detective knowingly entering bloody crime scenes in a white duster coat and a 1950s nurse in white. THE SHOW IS NOT BAD. It's heavy handed ON PURPOSE. If you found that irritating with American Horror Story or you have racial, political, or gender hang-ups, then you'll choose to see the heavy handedness as an attempt to be woke or anti-religion..... or some other dumb stuff. ***The best way I could describe this show is....it reminds me of prolonged cutscenes in a horror VIDEO GAME like Resident Evil, Far Cry, Silent Hill, Last of Us. Except, most episodes don't end with a big monster show down to justify the dark and ominous set-up you've just been forced to watch. Except for Ep. 5: Red Haze, which was like the overwhelming cutscene with the start of a BOSS BATTLE. The show is worth watching. If you can't make it past episode 3-4, you've already decided to NOT like it.

Excellent movie! Streamlines the original TRUE story in a necessary way. THERE ARE DEPICTIONS OF EXTREME VIOLENCE. That is not a construct of the filmmakers (or Liberal Hollywood, as weirdos here are saying). That is accurate to what Solomon said he WITNESSED! Toning down SLAVERY'S violence to suit certain people - is outrageous!.... Especially when these same people have no problem with EXTREMELY violent war and military movies that show how much American soldiers and "patriots" suffered. The movie is beautifully filmed. Some suggest that the lovely colors and tones of the Plantation are insulting to the subject. But I think the director knew that people still romanticize the LOOK of the Old South and plantations, so letting them keep their silly oil painting ideas of it with the REALITY of it was a powerful thing. A+ film and actors. (I do wish the evil planation owner had been played by an actor who LOOKED like the real man- who was a fat, old, drunk raping a 12-17 yr old girl fir years. Too many people turned Fassbender and Lupita into a sick fantasy or tortured romance. Read the book. It was NOT).
