Ok…I want to start by saying how much I loved this show despite the fact I looked like I had been stung by bees in both eyes for the two days it took me to binge watch this show! I laughed, I cried, oh man, I ugly cried so damn hard! 🥹 As someone who has grown up in a family that is mixed race, mixed culture, this whole story hit hard. Anyone that thinks this story doesn’t seem believable is out of their mind, this is a story that is true but not just for one couple, for so many. The story of love and family is also so universal, even if we cannot relate to the exact family dynamics Amahle has, we all know we deeply crave it! This is a tour de force for Zoe Saldana, she’s been able to really shine, acting out every shade of the emotional spectrum, she blew me away, she deserves serious accolades for the work done here. Her costar, someone new to me, Eugenio Mastrandrea, is a superb fit for the role, believable, and their screen chemistry is so easy and joyful to witness that it’s clear both have experienced just this kind of love in their individual lives, it doesn’t feel forced to consider where they draw their creative inspiration. I love the story because it’s so full of love; love for food, love for one’s spouse, love for family, love for friends, love for music, love for art, so much love, joy, and everything that life throws your way, the downs as much as the ups, coz without the downs how would you truly appreciate the ups? Damn, I have not ugly cried like this and really been grateful for that opportunity to really get those tears out, it was cathartic! I loved this show, it warmed my heart in such a positive way, reminding me to never take a single moment of life for granted. Just breathe it all in! You got to watch this show! The cast is perfect for it, the writing is impeccable, the whole story…I can’t recommend it all enough! I’m listening to the whole soundtrack now on Spotify! Absolutely brings back memories of my time living in Sicily! 👌

Once in a blue moon there comes along a movie that genuinely reminds you what movies were originally meant to do, to transport you to an alternate reality, to make you feel deeply and to make you think outside of the box we call mundanity…Swan Song is a masterpiece, from start to finish. A quiet, slow paced, stunningly shot, beautifully scored masterpiece that leaves you breathless by the final song. I haven’t been this fulfilled in crying hard in a long time, and trust me, I cried! Cried for the humanity, the fragility of life, the empathy that I felt for the protagonist because…Ali is simply incredible in this role, I have always been a huge fan of us, but this here role better garner him an Oscar! What a beautiful movie!!!

That’s two hours of my life I will never get back! This movie felt like two movies chopped together. Wasn’t even sure what the deal was with JLo being in it. Was almost like she was made to play “hot chick” and “comedic relief” rolled into one. This movie started off promising and then kinda dawdled along right about the time Jason Statham drops his attacker off a balcony while climbing to safety with a jagged edge dagger still sticking out his hand! Ever watched a movie where you just sit around 4/5ths of the way in, wishing you could just give up but then you’ve invested that much time into it that you know you have to just finish the damn thing? Yep, that was me watching Parker on terrestrial TV, with super long ads as well! Yeeessshhhh! I’d have never watched the whole thing if it was on Netflix! Lol. I mean, it’s got a good cast of strong actors, it’s just a lousy story!

Loved it! I totally loved it! Its perfect, the dude that plays the messiah is excellent for the part, and I was shocked to see how many people gave this a poor review and my only conclusion is that said people are followers of one religion or another. The truth is, as an Atheist or an Agnostic, one can actually find the play of events in the show completely plausible. What IF the messiah did rock up, in this day and age of internet and "seeing is believing"? We live in an age where even that doesn't mean its true. To hear the words out of someones mouth and then the next to see them say they never said it! Lol. Truth is, the people LEAST likely to believe that someone could be the messiah are actually the ones who claim most to believe in God! Its nuts, but its true. At least an Atheist would be willing to accept that they could be wrong or that there is a plausible explanation or possibility for why someone could be who they say they are, no matter how outlandish. So in this context, I think this show hit all the right points! I watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it and so did my husband. I so hope this gets a second season!
