The product of a creative and disturbed mind. I defy anyone to explain what the sequences with rabbit-like characters actually represent...Why the Polish sequences? Do we really need satire on US talk shows? They are so ridiculous as to be beyond satire. Finally....3 hours and 17 minutes is simply self-complacent. If this is the summa of Lynch's film experience, then it is frankly a disappointment....

Jia Zhangke is a master at depicting with a dispassionate eye the developments in China. I found this film, however, unsatisfactory as the script meanders through emotional territory covered far better in Still Life and A Touch of Sin. Very good acting saves the day (but only just)
