(BASICALLY) NO SPOILERS:
Long story short, YES there are some plot holes and a few things here and there that don’t make sense. But the overall narrative is good. And the message is strong. The plot holes just mean that the message misses a lot of people (like my sister whom I watched the movie with).
I personally (almost) loved it. Especially the characters. Acting is what saved this movie. My biggest complaint however is Steve. You’re telling me Wonder Woman is an immortal, magical being and after only 6 months with a guy is “the only joy she’s ever had”? When will Hollywood get it right? Not every female hero needs to have a man right beside her. This patriarchal dependency is mainly exacerbated by how Steve returns to the world, which is unrealistic and also unnecessary.
SPOILER: Ending was alright except for the last scene when again it’s ANOTHER man, but this time the one Steve was reincarnated in (ooh exciting). Where the hell was Kristin Wigg? Her and WW’s story line never got resolved after trying to kill eachother. And for Max Lord to magically turn good for his son? It’s fine, but again, mildly unrealistic. Additionally, the movie revolved way too much around him, when it should be Wonder Woman’s show.
Overall, I really enjoyed it, but after deliberating with my sister and reading reviews, I understand why there was some negativity. Best advice: watch it for yourself. Gal Godot is still sooo pretty :)
