Interesting show, even though not always very accurate and it could lead tourists into dangerous situations. I live in South Africa. Yes, we have the very radical Suid-Landers. They are rare to find though and not at all the view Afrikaans people have. It felt like it showed the Afrikaans community in a very bad light.
And he also made light of the crime and danger in townships due to poverty. Again, it was very generalized. It's dangerous for a foreigner to go into townships without a respected guide. It's dangerous for everybody, but locals and all South Africans know to be vigilant and not stupid in certain parts of the city. It's not safe for a foreigner to walk in Alexandra any time of the day without a guide. Please don't do this.
That being said, the loveliest and kindest people live in townships. But they are vigilant and knows the reality of where they live. Just because they live there, doesn't mean it's safe.
