First off. Don't go into this expecting Beastars.
Second off. Sorry if this is rambly, I'm not too used to reviews, and english is my second language.
As somebody who usually isn't big into anime, but got really intrigued by the plot synopsis, I came out of the series rather satisfied. It's far from a perfect show, but while it's flawed in a good amount of places, it carries a charm that's shown even in the harsher parts.
I just wanna properly get this out of the way before I contiune to praise the show
It's a shame that it was limited to a run of just 12 episodes. As it ended up feeling like a show that was suppose to be 24 episodes long, but got rushed into being just 12. I really wanna live in the world where maybe there was no virus currently ravaging the world, and that BNA got an extra year or something to be made into a 24 episode long show, instead of feeling like it needed to rush into certain parts.
Most of the problems I had with the show (Other than very subjective ones that mostly come from me not being big into anime in general) come from that general feeling of being rushed. There's not too many explanations for various things, and some parts where it feels like they're tossing out a lot of exposition they needed to get in there at some point.
But like I said at the start, the show has a distinct charm that I absolutely adored, and a lot of characters that I came to like a lot too. This isn't a show where there's just absolutely nothing to it. And I absolutely enjoyed my time with the show, especially the first six opening episodes.
If the show had kept a more grounded approach, and had better pacing, I'd absolutely recommend it to pretty much anybody. But for now, all I can hope is that despite Trigger apparently having a reputation for having a lot of One-Off shows, that we'll get a second season where they work on the pacing and stories more.
It's a lot better than a generic isekai.
