I had such a fun time watching. Everything I loved about Sonic as a kid was nearly touched on in the film. Many self-aware references and even the meme culture behind Sonic is included. Jim Carey brings his classic comedy act to Dr. Robotnik in a very theatrical way. He flushes out what makes Eggman tick but, it feels overexaggerated and the writing for his character is absolutely dumbed down for children. REMEMBER THIS IS A KIDS MOVIE. This was made for the 11-13 year old Sonic fan. Not You, the 21-26 year old. You will still enjoy the fun they had making Sonic come to life. All I want now is a special release of the original Sonic design just to humor the idea.
