Is it bad? No. Is it good? No. Thoroughly average. Pesci pulls his weight. As does Pacino. DeNiro? Not so much. Wow, does he look old in this film. If he just played the role of an elder Sheeran, that would have been perfect. When made to look younger by CGI, his movements and mannerisms were of an old man. For example, the scene where he roughs up the store owner. He looked slow, clumsy, and weak. Think about it... That was the BEST take. Most times I would overlook such a superficial criticism. But that brings me to the crux of what just didn't work for me...DeNiro's performance. He is a cold empty husk of a once great actor. This could also be a criticism of Scorsese as well. When Sheeran is asked to do the big deed, he puts up no resistance. He hems, haws, and shrugs but he should have been extremely conflicted. Nope, just goes about his business. Just another day at the job. Which is what this film is. Just another day at the job.
