I believe the script is well-done, but I vastly prefer the cast of the movie. This TV cast is almost uniformly unattractive, beginning with a sallow, too mature looking Lyra.

Having faithfully watched the entire series on TV, I enjoyed the movie very much. I was pleased to see that Tom Branson was conveniently provided with a promising future with the heiress to a grand estate. This wrapped up the major โloose endโ remaining from the TV series. There were some omissions - Maryโs husband put in only the briefest of appearances and others werenโt seen at all.
