Look....there are some fake reviews here. Using exactly the same phrasing and language...as if written by one person.
Lame film.
Embarrassingly formulaic feelgood story that left me cold. I was immune ( unusually) to even the pathotic bits ...We were expected to believe in a completely unbelievable romance ....for some reason irrelevant to the story.
It would've been better served as a true life success story of an unlikely folk group, rather than a cynically fictionalised plot.
If the singing group had been the main focus, I'd have gone with it, but to invent characters because the actual truth isnt strong enough is a lie. At least if it had been a fictional band it would've been more truthful.
Tired efforts at tearjerking, a pathetic plot with generic characters. ..I wanted to leave to alleviate the
nausea but I didn't have the nerve.
I'd have loved to hear more of the music, the trials and tribulations of the group....studio rehearsals etc but no, we were expected to believe it's all happened in the background to this fictionalised story of a record executive unconvincingly played by Daniel Mays ....in fact none of the performances were believable with notable exceptions of Dave John and David Hayman , who played two of the group, who looked and acted the part..
Pathetic.
