Have been a massive fan of the show since the beginning, the tv show led me to the books and I just couldn’t get enough. Like most I thoroughly enjoyed seasons 1-5 found 6 slow to start but it ended up brilliant, season 7 most agree was very fast paced, fast travel was unlocked and the writing didn’t quite hit the mark. I began the countdown for season 8 and when 2019 came I managed to re watch seasons 1-7 twice! Season 7 was much more impressive with the impending doom just around the corner I thought this is it, it’s what has been built up an epic fight for survival against the dead, but I could not be more wrong to my bitter disappointment. While we expect all season premieres to be slow getting back into it, it felt like it covered all the unnecessary and none of what we needed. It was also just the start of complete inconsistencies that would plague all of season 8, just one of the more obvious issues is Daenerys herself in the show acknowledges only Targaryens can ride dragons but does not question Jon riding one? Again did we need this magic carpet ride but with dragons? Unfortunately the episodes do not improve ep 2 was a beautiful way to say goodbye to our most loved characters but fear not because no matter how many impossible situations they face in ep 3 their plot armour is strong. You should not show multiple characters in situations that would clearly mean death only to have them survive before being overwhelmed again! We see the Dothraki get obliterated and unsullied die defending the retreat only for them to double in size in the next few episodes. Rhaegals death was cheap and just for shock factor, the golden company were pointless all just for shock value not to mention all the other numerous forgetting of story lines introduced into the show. We’ve seen time and time again characters be in the worst situations but come out fighting we don’t label them mad for taking revenge yet we are expected to believe Dany’s madness over a free episodes! It’s not the ending that is the issue it’s the story getting there you built her up for 7.5 seasons she had literally fought the dead for you! Ep 5 where do I begin Jaime and Cersei could of stood 10 ft away and survived, of course they didn’t kill Jon only to strip him of everything again just a bundle of badly written endings. I laughed out loud for the whole of Tyrion’s speech I’m guessing that’s not the reaction which would be expected but again had it of been told properly I could see how this worked yet instead they ignore what they’ve included in this season and it just seems far fetched. What a terrible way to end this amazing program!! Oh and yes Bronn fan favourite but really it just wasn’t necessary. It just needed a laughing track in the background to make this the sitcom it was it’s like they looked online saw some popular characters and ran with it, it’s a massive shame they didn’t read any of the theories that were better put together then this mess They’ve made most of what has taken place over 7 seasons not matter anymore it was all pointless. It is just a shambles there’s so much more to say about this season but look how long this post is and it doesn’t even begin to cover the issues, inconsistencies, major mistakes Cast were brilliant as always, music, cinematography,costumes all the departments bar D&D’S writing which was the downfall Goodbye game of thrones
